近年來,無數的青年人藉着「福音四律」,對基督教信仰的原則有了清楚的認識。舉世聞名的佈道家葛理翰在此解釋這些定律。

第二個定律

第二個屬靈的定律是:你必須承認你是一個罪人—由於性情和習慣的關係。

這罪性使你和上帝隔絕,使你不能經歷祂對你生命的愛和計劃。聖經提到人時這樣說:「他們全都偏離了那道,就是他們所不知道的那條平安道路….因為,所有的人都犯了罪,虧缺了上帝的榮耀。」以賽亞先知教導我們:「你們的罪使祂的臉背向你。」

當年青人意識到這種罪惡﹑隔離之感;這種與神隔絕之感時,就懷疑甚麼緣由以致於此。有一位讀者投書給「親愛的耶比」時,問道:「當一個年輕人走入歧途,那一個因素要負較大的責任?是他的遺傳或是他的環境?」耶比回答:「機會相等。」聖經正是這樣說的!我們因遺傳和環境；性情和教育。本能和習慣而成為罪人。

因為,我們是罪人,所以常覺得孤單,不受喜愛。社會學家曾在本國(美國)百姓中做了抽樣調查,結果發現白天任何時候大約有十三萬伍仟人說:「我厭倦一切事物!」環顧四周!傾聽今日青年人的心聲。滾石樂團曾作了一首最流行的現代音樂,曲名是「我得不到滿足!」題目本身已經清楚地解釋了其中的意義。罪惡不能帶來滿足。

史蒂芬斯英格曾獲六十年代最佳電視女明星金球獎,但一進1970年就自殺身死。她曾說:「有時候我孤單得想喊叫起來。」

因此,不必再拐彎抹角了!何不以真實的名稱「罪」把我們的問題直接說出來呢?罪就是自私—違背了上帝的道德法律一達不到上帝的道德要求—我們在這一切的事上都犯了罪。讓我們面對事實,坦誠認出並放棄罪惡!耶穌說:「除非你悔改,否則你必定滅亡。」「悔改」這個字在聖經上共用了七十次。

In recent years countless young people have come to a clear understanding of the principles of the Christian faith through what is called “The four spiritual laws.” Here the world famous evangelist, Billy Graham, explains these laws.

THE SECOND LAW

The second spiritual law is that you must acknowledge you are a sinner-by nature and by practice.

This sinful nature separates you from God and makes it impossible for you to experience either His love or His plan for your life. The Bible tells us concerning man, “They have all gone out of the way” anal “the way of peace they have not known.....for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” The prophet Isaiah taught, “Your sins have separated His face from you.”

Youth senses this guilt, this alienatation, this separation from God, and wonders what causes it. A reader wrote to “Dear Abby”: “When a kid goes wrong, which factor is more responsible, his heredity or his environment?” Abby replied, “It’s a toss-up.” The Bible says exactly that! We are sinners both by heredity and environment; both by nature and nurture; both by instinct and practice.

Because we are sinners, we often feel lonely and unloved. A social scientist once polled the people of this country and discovered that at any time during the day about 135,000 people are saying, “I’m sick and tired of everything!” Look around! Listen to youth today. The Rolling Stones have made the song “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction!” one of the most popular modern songs. The title speaks for itself. Sin brings no satisfaction.

Inger Stevens won the Golden Globe Award as the best television actress during the 1960’s, and began 1970 by taking her own life, “Sometimes I get so lonely I could scream,” she had said.

So why not quit beating around the bush! Why not call our problem by it’s real name, which is “sin.” Sin is selfishness –it’s transgression of God’s laws –it’s coming short of God’s moral requirements-and of these we are all guilty. Let’s face it, admit it and forsake it! Jesus said, “Except you repent you will perish.” The word “repentance” is used in the Bible 70 times.
