叩   門

『基督耶穌降世，為要拯救罪人。這話是可信的，是十分可佩服的。在罪人中我是個罪魁。』

提前1:15

每年這個時候,我們的腦海中就會浮現兩千年前聖經所記載的情景來:「她(馬利亞)就生了頭胎的兒子(耶穌),用布包起來放在馬槽裏,因為客店裏沒有地方。」

神—創造萬物的神,披着小嬰孩細嫩的肉體,降卑成為人間家庭的一份子,唯一的目的乃在救贖全人類,然而客店裏卻沒有地方。

我能在我的想像裏,看見小伯利恆城那家客店。我能看見富有的商人穿着紫色上好的細麻布,驕傲地佔據着客店上等的套房。當他被問到是否願意將他的房間給孕婦住時,他強硬地拒絕了。我也可以看到筆直又驕傲的法利賽人坐在那豪華的房間裏,當他被問到同樣的問題時,也搖頭表示不願意。不但客店裏沒有地方,客店人們的心裏也沒有地方容納祂。

這一次聖誕節,將再有柔和的聲音在許多人的家門和心門上叩着—或許你的門外有柔和的叩門聲；當我們從窗縫看出去,我們看見耶穌帶着釘痕的手站在那裏,尋找進入我們的生命裏:「看哪,我站在門外叩門。若有聽見我聲音就開門的,我要進到他那裏去,我與他,他與我一同坐席。」兩千年前沒有空位給祂;今天,照樣有許多人沒有將空房給祂。

感謝神,仍將有許多人邀請祂進到裏面來,因而認識這個奇妙節日的真正意義。凡讓祂進去的人都要被改變。永不再是同樣的人。倫敦有一位醫生最近邀請祂進到心裏,基督便把他從酒鬼變成聖徒。

噢,我求你將基督帶進你的家。今年,有許多家庭一直在分裂中;去年聖誕節好像還有喜樂、樂趣、幸福,今年聖誕節,家中卻閙着糾紛,搞得四分五裂。為甚麼?因為,我們已經把基督擠出門外。求你打開你的心,打開你的家,讓基督進來。今天,你就能這樣做,將你的生命獻給基督,小嬰孩基督會在今年的聖誕節進到你心裏。

A KNOCK AT THE DOOR

『This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.』

1Tim1:15

At this time of year our minds travel back to the scene two thousand years ago when the Scripture says: “And she (Mary) brought forth her firstborn Son (Jesus) and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.”

Here was God, the God of creation, clothed in the soft flesh of a little babe, deigning to become a member of the human family for the express purpose of redeeming it, and there was no room in the inn.

In my imagination, I can see that inn in the little town of Bethlehem. I can see the rich merchant clad in purple and fine linen, proudly occupying the choicest suite in the inn, and when asked if he would care to give his room to an expectant mother, he stiffened and refused. I can see the erect an proud Pharisee sitting in his sumptuous quarters shaking his head negatively when asked the same question. Not only was there no room in the inn, there was no room in the hearts of he people at the inn.

This Christmas, once more there will be a soft knock at the door of many hearts and homes, perhaps a soft knock at your door; and as we peep out the window we see Jesus standing there with nail-scarred hands, seeking entrance to our lives: “Behold I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and sup with him and he with me.” Two thousand years ago there was no room for him, and for many today there will be no room either.

Thank God, there will be many others, however, who will bid him enter, and know the true meaning of this wonderful season. Those who let him in are changed. They are never the same again. A doctor in London recently 1et him in, and Christ changed him from an alcoholic to a saint.

Oh, I beg of you that you will bring Christ into your home. Many homes are being torn apart this year. Last Christmas seemed to be joy and fun and happiness, but this Christmas there is division and strife and separation in the home. Why? Because we have crowded out Christ. I beg of you to open your heart, open your home, and let Christ in this Christmas. You can do it today. You can give your 1ife to Christ and the Christ child will come into your heart this Christmas season.
